Giving a birth in Northern Ireland

Hi, me and my wife are both naturalised UK citizens living in the UK. Just wondering, if we come to Belfast to give a birth, will our child have an opportunity to claim Irish citizenship?

Yes, a child born in Northern Ireland to a British citizen parent is automatically a British citizen otherwise than by descent and also eligible for Irish citizenship. That is to say that the child is not automatically an Irish citizen, but becomes one when they apply for and are issued an Irish passport.
