Uk Citizenship -Current passport expiry

Hi Moderators,

I have an indian passport due to expire in Jan 2027.
I am planning to apply for british naturalization in October 2026 using my current passport as that was used since 5years immigration.

My query: 1. If I apply for british citizenship then travel to India in Dec and apply for fresh passport , will it affect my current naturalisation application here in UK, if decision is still pending?

2. What are my options in such case as neither I want to miss October date nor I want to be in a state where I might be without a valid passport whilst waiting for a decision.

So are we saying I can get a new passport though the passport I applied my british citizenship on would stand invalid?

May I also ask, do we need to submit physical passports during our biometric,unlike ilr where we submitted soft copies of all the passport?
As this could change my plans of getting a new passport in Dec .

It doesn't matter if you renew your passport. You dont even need a valid passport to apply for citizenship.

No originals are submitted. Passport at biometric is for identity check only, same as for ILR.
