MN1 for child born in UK

Post by shobhitsri » Thu Jul 09, 2026 7:25 pm

Hi everyone,

I am currently completing MN1 registration application for my son. He was born here in the UK on my last leave. Now I have got ILR through my current skilled worker visa route. So I am filling MN1 for him as his visa expiry is near.

I am facing an administrative block on the online portal regarding Referee 1:
The Referee: The Deputy Headteacher at my son’s school has agreed to act as our professional referee. She has provided all of her contact details and professional background information.

The Issue: She is a British citizen, but due to personal privacy and data-sharing concerns, she is strictly unwilling to share her private British passport number with me for data entry.

The Block: Because she is British, selecting "Yes" on the digital form forces a mandatory passport number input field, blocking me from proceeding to the next page. I am trying other options like other teachers as well but as of now I have no one.

My Referee 2- is British and has willingly provided his valid British passport number.

Could you please advise me how to handle this admin blocker on portal?

I would highly appreciate your urgent guidance on this.

Thank you very much.

You need to choose another referee. You need the passport number to proceed. Don't worry if you can't find another professional referee for your child, this is a well known issue to UKVI that school staff doesn't want to share such personal details. Pick a friend of yours that could act as a professional referee and knows your child.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
