Documents check list for Naturalisation Application

Post by IceCreamSandwich1 » Sat Jul 18, 2026 1:31 pm

Hello there, I'm applying for BC by the way of naturalisation,
After spending some months on research I've made my own check-list for documents needed for the online for.
1. Current Passport
1.1 Current national ID card
1.2 Any other type of photo ID
1.3 BRP or share code to prove immigration status
2. Residency supporting documents
3. Two Referees
4. English language test certificate
5. Life in the UK certificate

I have some issues providing some of those documents,
I've lost my physical BRP and don't have pictures of it left, but I I have id number written down and have access to share codes to prove lawful residence.

My current national passport has expired more than 6 years ago and I haven't traveled outside UK for the last 7 years.
As such I'm not sure how I can prove my residence for qualifying period.
I've read on-line that following document's can be used to prove my residency:
Council tax bills, tenancy agreements, utility bills, payslips, P60s, employment/school letters covering last 5 years.
But since I haven't traveled outside the UK for qualifying period, do I need to provide any evidence at all?

Also from what I read manager from work does qualify as a professional, is that correct?

Thank you in advance for your responses!

Your passport can't be current if it has expired.

You must provide other evidence of residence, eg P60s or an employer letter with dates of your employment(s) over the last 5 years. Bank statements or bills (except council tax bills) are not accepted.
Did you tell the authorities you lost your BRP? do you have a letter that proves you were given ILR? Do you have any other valid ID documents? Could you get a passport from your country of origin?

I've called the UKVI and they told me not to worry about it and that it was replaced by e-visa and I should use share-code to prove my immigration status.

No, I haven't received any letters only the one that said that I was invited to the UKVI interview for the BRP it self.

Not really, but I was told by UKVI that e-visa should be enough in most cases.

It would take too long, and turns out I have a picture of BRP I've read on this forum that picture would be enough for the online application, is it true?

I have tenancy agreements and letters from NHS covering 5 years period, would the suffice as evidence of residency?

If you are employed, why not just requesting a letter form your employer? Tenancy agreements are not accepted.

You will need a form of valid ID when you attend your biometrics appointment. A picture of a lost BRP won't be enough for that.
