Switching and impact on dependants

Post by Mata » Thu Aug 06, 2026 4:53 pm

Husband and wife with two kids. Husband has SOC 6145 Care Worker granted in July 2023. Wife and kids joined him as dependants in May 2024.

Husband's sponsor licence was revoked in November 2025. This means the CoS automatically became invalid. Home Office wrote to husband informing him that his existing permission remains valid until another Home Office department writes to him to confirm it has been shortened or cancelled, or until it expires (whichever is the earliest). It expires in September 2026. Husband has been struggling to get another sponsor.

Wife has been working as care worker since she came in the UK. She has been offered Senior Care Worker role (SOC 6136) with her employer. Wife is willing to switch from dependant to SOC 6126 but is unsure of the impact this will have on her husband and their little kids.

The issue is whether after switching from dependant to (SOC 6136), her husband and/or her kids will also be able to switch and become her dependants. Is this possible? If not are there any other possible opitions for them?
