Skilled Worker Dependant Extension – Main Applicant Now Has ILR: How Should the Application Form Questions Be Answered?

Post by astrel » Tue Aug 18, 2026 2:24 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help with a Skilled Worker dependant extension question.

The applicant originally applied for and was granted a Skilled Worker dependant visa in 2023. Since then, the main applicant has obtained ILR, so he is no longer on the Skilled Worker route. The dependant’s current visa is expiring, and she now needs to extend her permission as a Skilled Worker dependant.

However, the application form still asks several questions about the main applicant’s Skilled Worker visa, even though he no longer has one.

For example:

- “Which visa or permission to stay has the main applicant applied for or been granted?”
The main applicant now has ILR, but the question appears to require details of his Skilled Worker permission. We cannot skip this question. What should we select/provide here?
- “Do you know the main applicant’s visa end date?”
If we answer “No”, the system calculates the IHS for only 6 months. If we answer “Yes”, should we enter a date 3 years in the future, as this is the period we are applying for?
- The form also asks for the main applicant’s work start date and work end date, and the start date cannot be left blank. Should we use the dates from his previous Skilled Worker employment/visa, even though he is no longer on that route?
- The application also asks for the main applicant’s Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) and says the application may be refused if this is not provided. Should we enter the CoS details from the dependant’s previous application? The main applicant does not have a new CoS because he now has ILR and is no longer sponsored.
- UAN: Should we provide the main applicant’s UAN from his last Skilled Worker application, or the UAN from his ILR application?

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation where the main applicant has obtained ILR but the dependant is extending their Skilled Worker dependant permission?

I would really appreciate any advice on how these questions should be completed. Thank you!
