Is there any time restriction on when you can apply for Tier 1?

I read somewhere saying you can NOT apply for extension more than 3 months before current visa expires. Is it only for certain situations?

My current Work Permit visa expires in 2012, and now face redundancy. I am planning to change to Tier 1.

Can I apply for Tier 1 when the visa expires in 2012, or must wait for the company to tell Home Office to curtail the visa to within 60 days?

My end of current employment is 28/04. Should I mention this in my covering letter or anywhere in the application? Or this redundancy is a separate issue with Tier 1 application, and should not be mentioned at all?

Book a Premium service (In person ) appointment , organise your doucments and apply to get the visa on same day.Ty all the four PEOS for appoinment. You can apply any time since you are switching to a different category. Tier 1 is an objective process with little room of discretion. It is about assesing your past record rather than future.As long as you can score points and have job at the time of application (eihter in person or by post) you don't need to mention your impending redundancy.

Oh, really??! That is a surprise to me!

Their "Applying" and "Cost" web pages do not have this information.

Do you know how much they charge for this? same as settlement premium 950 pounds?

Are they really taking in-person appointments now?
