Dependant Visa for baby born on the UK

My son was born here in May08. I haven’t applied for his visa yet. Could anybody please advise me if there’s any restriction to apply for his visa within a certain time period. I didn’t apply his visa as I thought to apply his visa on the time of my extension within few months.

Please advise.
