Request for an updated letter that HO is dealing with my app

Post by cienna » Mon Sep 14, 2009 12:27 pm

Hi Im new to the forum, I have read through the posts and havent seen any relating to my position. I would like to kindly request for some help with this. I applied for my ILR and HO sent back acknowledgement letter. But this is now 2 and half months old. I got a job back in january, but my employer has refused to give me any assignment, and when I called them to inquire why, I was told my visa is about to expire. So I waited until I could submit my application to the HO for ILR, but when I heard that it can take a while before HO gets back to you, I told my emloyer, and then they requested me for an updated letter from the HO as my current acknowledgment letter is more than 2 months old, which I did but now its been 3 weeks since I wrote to them, and still not heard from them. Please help as I may lose that job, and havent a clue to how to move forward, let alone be able to sustain myself.

Tell your employer to check with this service about your current status. They cannot simply dismiss you because you cannot the HO has yet to get round to your case. The Onus is on them to check with HO, if you are an existing employee before dismissing you.

Perhaps you should have gone for the Premium service and prevent yourself from all these hassles.

Hi Obie, thanks for the advice. Yes the checks were made back in January and everything was clear, but for some reason they kept referring to the fact that my visa was about to run out each time i contacted them, at the time i did the interview, i had 7 months remaining, and they stated that before they can let me work, i need to show them a new visa. I called the HO and spoke to a nice person, who advised me that I would still be able to work, as long as I placed my application in time, and had recieved their acknowledgement letter. Im not sure how long it would take for the HO to reply the letter, or what to do really. Thanks Cienna.

Ask homeoffice to send ILR application status update letter, that will resolve your current issue.

Hi Sani, thanks for your suggestion. I must have forgotten to include in the first post that I had written to the Home office (4weeks ago) requesting for an updated letter that the HO is dealing with my application, and the same conditions in the old visa still apply, so that I would take this to my employer. I still havent got a reply to that letter. Im not sure if its the wording thats not right, but I am happy to send out another letter as you have suggested.

thanks, Cienna.
