Got Tier 1 extension - Keep up the good work

Post by lizrich002 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 9:22 am

Dear all,

I just want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone offering valuable advice on this forum.

I stumbled on this forum earlier in the year and this was where I discovered the possibility of early extension. Before some people will crucify me, I had a genuine reason for applying early, it was getting really difficult for my hubby to get a job because we had just 5 moths left on our visa. He attended so many interviews but on getting to that aspect, they get really concerned and he missed some for that simple reason. I think it was even worse because he is the dependant.

Anyway, we got an appoitment at Croydon PEO yesterday and we got our passports back at about half past 2 in the afternoon. I will post the full details on @In-person PEO appointment.

It was a straightforward case though I did not meet the earnings treshold with my major job so took a weekend job that was paid with cheque. The date of deposit were really different but I explained that on my cover letter. There were also slight difference in the amounts in two payslips and the account statement, I also expalined this in the covering letter as an accounting error which was subsequently corrected in the follwoing months payslip.

The caseworker was really thorough but her supervisor came and told her while we were there that she only needed to check a few of the payslips with the account statement, that she doesn't have to check all of it.

There is a lot of information to pass across but I will be very willing to answer anybody's questions. I just want to let you know that you should relax, there's nothing to worry about. I had just 75 points so cannot afford anything going wrong and I thank God it all went well.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

And I do have something to ask. My salary is paid by bank BACS but the employer name is not shown on bank statements. I guess you dont have the employment name entry either for your job paid by cheque, but you still get the points claimed as long as the amounts corroborate with the pay slips (even the date is different), right? Do I need extra letter from my employer to explain this?

And my employer changed the format of pay slip this month, which means I will have one looks different from the other 11 months (but basic information not changed)-- and they are not formal pay slips but simple tables on A4 papers. I will get them sighed and sealed. Will there be any issue about this? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Newbie,

As you rightly pointed out, the employer's name is not on the statment for my job paid by cheque. It's so bad that the only thing that is put there is the branch name, for instance if the cheque was paid in at a branch in Maidstone, the payment reference only shows Maidstone.

I explained this in the covering letter and because the credit date was different for each of the cheques (I take them to the bank whenever I have the time), I highlighted each payment in the bank statement and wrote the name of the employer in pencil beside it.

I only supported it with my letter of employement and last P60, no special letter from Employer.

I am not sure of the payslip format as mine were standard formats but with them signed and sealed, I think there should be no problem.

However, you can wait for other people to respond to this.

Hope this has been helpful.

While claiming points for earnings the HO/caseworker will look mainly to the Net amount on ur payslip and that got credited in the BANK.. so it is NOT A problem if the name of the employer is not on the bankstatements differnt banks has different ways.. so u r good to go..

regarding the Payslip format.. again the caseworker will look for wat i wrote above but if ur employer is comforatable to give u a letter than go for it becos that is a SOLID proof.. other thing u shd do in this case is just mention about the change of format in ur cover letter will be good.. Cheers

thank you both and I feel much released now.
To be safe I will ask my employer to provide a letter with each month's gross and net pay, bank credit date and A/C no. along with pay slips and bank statements.
And do we still need a cover letter if apply in-person? Coz I think we can explain if they raise any issue, or maybe a cover letter explaining everything in advance can show my attitude to help their job? I am thinking to provide a cover letter for the previous earning section only as the age and qualification parts are really simple and easy to check.

Hi Lizrich,

Did you provide any reasons in your cover letter for your 5 months early extension application?

A question to other people applying 3-4 months early, have you mentioned anything in your cover letter about the reason why you have applied for an early extension?

Any inputs would be much appreciated.

Regards

Don't make any mention of the fact that you are applying early. They accept applications regardless of how early they are.
Please do not send me any Private Messages as I do not check these.

Congratulations, is your next visa starting from the date of expiry of previous one or from the date of issue of new one?

Hello lizrich002,

Thanks for the information regarding this. Have you mentioned about the job struggles in the covering letter as a reason for early application?
If so, could you please post the relevant part in your covering letter, it would be of great help.
I am also going through almost the same circumstances and have booked appointment on Oct, 4 months before the visa expiry.

many thanks,
alladin

Alladin,

I did not give any reason for applying early, I did not even mention it. I think they treat all applications the same whether you apply early or not.
