Cover Letter / Maintainence funds / Payment of Fee

Post by krishna1215 » Sat Oct 10, 2009 11:36 am

Hi all,
I am applying for tier 1 migrant visa and my appointment is on next week (Tuesday).

1) Can the Cover letter be typed in and signed or should it be hand written.

2) Regarding Maintainence funds I have sufficient funds to meet the criteria.
I am in ireland at the moment. I have printed out all the e-statements for the last 6 months. It was told that the bank manager has to confirm that the funds are not below the level mentioned. How can she confirm this and how is the Calculation of exchange done. Could you please let me know what should I ask the bank manager for. Is there any other things I need to keep in mind about this when approaching the bank manager

3) I have submitted my application Online long back for the next tuesday appointment. I also read that I have to fill up the application form again and take it along with me. I havent paid the fee online earlier. In what form does the Embassy accept payment if not paid online. Does it accept cash or credit card or cheque

Thanks a lot in advance.

1. Yes you can use typed or printed cover letter. No need for hand written cover letter.
2.Bank can give you letter saying amount in your account has never went below the required sum during past 3 months. Make sure your e-statements are verified and stamped by bank or else it will be rejected. For maintenance funds exchange conversion use exchange rate of the day on which you appply.

3.Not sure about it..wait for other member's reply.

Type write and sign it.

a- e-statements should be signed and stamped by bank and get an authentication letter from bank that these are original. You need only last three months statement, and get these within last month before the date of your application. If you get these statements you do not need any additional letter or proof.

b- Embassy will confirm the minimum balance by looking at your transactions of the period you claimed for maintenance funds. The minimum level would be taken and converted to GBP at the exchange rate at oanda.com, on the date when you pay application fee.

c- Calculation of exchange would be done by the ECO at UK embassy in Dublin. They would calculate it with reference to oanda.com, on the day when you have paid the application fee. It is better that you include the print out of exchange rate with pounds from oanda.com, on the day when you pay fee at embassy.

You have to print out that application form which you have filled online, sign it and take to embassy on the date of appointment. In addition to the signed print out of online application form, you must also submit the filled and signed Aappendix A. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/resources/en/ ... sappendix1 You can pay fee in cash, by bank drafts and postal orders or by credit card at the embassy, on your appointment day. https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/ ... aFees_PAGE

Thanks a lot in advance.

eStatements

Post by krishna1215 » Sat Oct 10, 2009 5:41 pm

Hi,
Many thanks for all the info.

So the bottom online regarding estatements is to get the estatements stamped and a letter from the bank confirming that they are correct.
We dont require any thing else from bank. Have I got that right?

So the conversion of exchange rate is done at the embassy when i visit personally for appointment. Other than that I dont need to take a letter from the bank . Am i right ?

Regarding payslip deposits do we need to take a letter from bank?

Could you please confirm these.

Yes, but if the bank issues you original statements on their letter-pad with logo and name of bank, then you do not need to even attest these, nor do you need a letter. These are enough, you do not need anything else. Signed and stamped bank statements and letter is only for online statements.
If you get for last 12 months, you can show these for both "previous earnings" and "maintenance" sections (making sure these are according to the period claimed for these both sections, in your application).

Conversion thing is embassy's job. To make it easier for them, you may just provide the rate of that day, by printing a page from oanda.com.

Regarding payslip deposits do we need to take a letter from bank?

No need for that. Payslip deposit dates correlating with your bank statement entries, you can mention in a table in cover letter.

You said that you are going to apply this tuesday, I am wondering that do you have enough time to get statements from bank, as only one working day is left now. If you cannot get, you may think about cancelling your appointment and book another date from ukba visa website.

Could you please confirm these.

Maintainece funds + Salary Proof (Estatements of last 12 mon

Post by krishna1215 » Sat Oct 10, 2009 11:40 pm

Hi Mvent00,
My plan is to get to the bank on Monday with the estatements which I have for the last 12 months (this shoud suffice for 12 months salary proof + last 3 months bank balance).

All I need to get is the
1) Stamp on all the pages
2) A letter confirming that the statements are true.

Isn't it that last 12 months estatements, stamped with one letter from bank be sufficient as Proof for Salary & Maintainence funds.

Please correct me if i am wrong. I can postpone my appointment if thats not right. I have access to online statements once I login into the bank's website though.

I am sorry, in case of online statements, you EITHER need to have the signature and stamp of bank official on each page of online statements OR alternatively a letter confirming that these are true. Before I was under impression that you need these both (I did this for my application, unnecessary though!!). I just checked guidance, you need only one of these. Please see below quote from guidance.

Sometimes, banks do not do this stuff in one day, sometimes they hesitate to do so, or even refuse. That is why I was wondering why did you book appointment while you did not have the most important evidence yet?

Quote from Guidance:

ii) Personal bank statements showing the payments made to the applicant: Bank statements provided must be on official bank stationery, and must show each of the payments that the applicant is claiming. If the applicant wishes to submit electronic bank statements from an online account he/ she should also provide a supporting letter from the bank on company headed paper confirming that the documents are authentic. Alternatively an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank issuing the statements will be accepted. This stamp must appear on every page of the statement. For the purposes of this guidance an online bank account is one that operates solely over the internet and sends their bank statements to their customers electronically (for example over the internet or via email).
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... 310309.pdf page 25 of 44.

Please make sure that for:
1- "Previous earnings", bank statement transactions match exactly with your payslips, within the period claimed.
2- "Maintenance", funds have not fallen below the minimum level required (2800 GBP for main applicant and 1600 GBP for each dependent, for primary applications), within the period claimed.

bank statements

Post by krishna1215 » Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:15 am

thanks a lot for the reply.

I thought they would stamp and sign it on the day itself on the estatements did they hesitate to do so for u in ur bank in ireland.

1) if they stamp and sign on all the 12 months estatements, that would be enough as per what you say. I dont need letter again confirming authenticity.

2) what if I go the bank and tell them to print it out giving access to my account. in that case they know as it was printed by them. In that case may be they wouldnt hesitate

OR
I have to Order Original 12 months statement calling the customer service.
I suppose that would take a week minimum. Isnt it that in this case there is no STAMP and No sign and No letter is required. Am i right

Please let me know how you got the stamping done on ur estatements

bank balance

Post by krishna1215 » Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:19 am

Let say I print out all the statements OR get Original statements and my bank balance is lets say 3,500 Pounds. I dont have another appointment till 23rd of October. What if I used money from the bank account and it falls below 2800 pounds, but my bank statements show as 3500 as on lets say 15 Oct 2009. In this case, do they call and check what the balance is on the day evalautaion is done or they dont bother that but just consider the one printed on 15th october. not clear about this though#

Yes, if you get original statements on bank stationery with bank logo and name on it. You do not need to stamp and sign it from them.

Please let me know how you got the stamping done on ur estatements

Just go to bank and ask them. You can also take printout of the guidance notes, so they can decide the best way suitable for them and for you.

They will evaluate only the period for maintenance funds that you have provided them. This should be for three months and proof issued for this (bank statements) should not be older than one month before the date of application.

Postponed Application date

Post by krishna1215 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 3:57 pm

Hi Mvent00,
Thanks a lot for all the support and guidance. I have just postponed my appointment to 22nd of this month. Next week I will go and take those eStatements to the bank and get them stamped and signed (just want to keep them latest by going next week though) :-)
