Maintenance funds

Hi,

I have a below query.

My friends HSMP will expire in November this year. This month start he was in urgent need of money so he has to use all his savings and for few days the balance was zero in the account. As a result he was unable to maintain sufficient maintenance funds in his bank account. Hence he wont be able to apply for HSMP extension in november and if he applies it will get rejected on Maintenance funds ground

In this case is there any way or other option to get the HSMP extension.
