tier1 extension and further education impact

Post by harry7476 » Wed Oct 21, 2009 8:44 am

Hi, Got a few questions that i am trying to find answers to

I am on tier 1 extension. If i do 1 yr post grad study in UK how will this effect my ILR extension
1. Will i have to switch my existing visa category
2. When i go for ILR will i have to wait 6 years instead of 5 as i will do a 1 yr post grad study or
3. will i have to apply afresh for tier1 post study visa and wait 5 years for ilr

Thanks

Tier 1 visa gives you the right to live and work in UK. It does not deny you from studying. If you study and stay in UK, I think there would be no impact on your ILR process. However, it might be a bit difficult to extend Tier 1 after that period, because as a student, the previous earnings section might be difficult to handle.
