Applied online but need a new passport

Post by pred02 » Wed Oct 21, 2009 5:26 pm

Ok,
I filed my application online last Friday (and paid) went for my biometrics on Tuesday, however I just realized that I do not have any pages in the passport for them to issue a visa. My passport also expires in a little over a year therefore I went today to apply for a new passport and I should have it by Friday.

I called the 1-900 UK Visa support line to ask if it's a problem that I am sending a new passport other than the one I originally applied under online, and they say to cross out the passport number on the online printout application and send an include a letter explaining why I am sending a new passport instead of the old one.

Does anyone see a problem with this? I had 3 pages in the old passport but this last summer 3 immigration officials indiscriminately decided to put one stamp each on the blank pages and I did not notice this until my biometric appointment.

Classic scenario it is, isn't it? It is okay to enter any changes in writing on your printed copy of online application form. So, when are you going to submit your online application and at what time your new passport will arrive?

Passport is going to be ready Friday which means I will send out the application on Friday or Saturday morning and they will recieve it in the NYC office on Monday.

I am also thinking about changing the requested entry to the UK date to February instead of January 20th, 2010 because I'd like to visit some family abroad and spend some time traveling. It will probably take me a little while to get a job so no point of getting the visa activated early. Do you think it will be the problem if I make that change as well?

thanks!
