pros and cons Of Britsizh Citizenship

Post by Jonesy » Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:08 pm

My wife is a Belgian citizen and has been living in the UK since 1992. She has been working and paying tax since then and we have been married for 7 years. I am a UK citizen. We have children.

She sees no real reason to become British - the only thing she can't do is vote in UK general elections, which doesn't bother her unduly.

Are there any persuasive arguments for her to become British?

Thanks

Jonesy, do you know if Belgium allows dual nationality? That needs to be established.

After all, it is one matter thinking about becoming British, and quite another ceasing to be Belgian, should that prove necessary.

That's correct, Belgium now allows joint citizenship.
