Travel Date + Visa Start Date

Post by ilan_thendral » Mon Jan 04, 2010 11:14 pm

GuideLine : Travel date

* it is valid for the date on which you want to travel. (You can ask for it to be post-dated up to three months if you do not plan to travel immediately).

Assume iam applying for Tier 1 General application on 17th Jan 2010

Travel date : 01/04/2010

What will be my VISA Start Date

Date filled against "on which date do you wish to travel to the UK" in FORM or Date on which i get the visa?

Are there any issues if i dont travel on the specified date?

If the request for post-poned travel date is heeded by HO and your visa is stamped accordingly, then the Visa start date would be the Travel date!

Are there any issues if i dont travel on the specified date?

No!
But if you wish to travel at a later date, then put the later date where the form asks "On what date do you wish to travel to the UK?"
It would also carry a bit more weight if you explained the need for the visa to be postdated in the 'Additional Notes' section.
This is because sometimes the ECO overlooks the travel date on the application, and simply dates the visa on the day it is issued.
