extending leave to remain on HSMP

Post by rogerroger » Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:51 am

Hi

A friend of mine & his wife are on HSMP visas. Their leave to remain expires in August 2006.

they want to apply for a mortgage, but the mortgage people say that they dont have enough leave to remain to apply for the mortgage.

can they go to the home office to extend their leave to remain right now.

my friend and his wife both have stable jobs and possess doctorates in their fields.

The simple answer is no, an extension application now would be premature and likely to be returned by WP(UK). Typically, extension applications should be lodged earliest about 2 months prior to expiry.

Hi there,
If your friend wants a mortage you can go to hsbc. They have no clause which can prevent you from buying a house.

Cheers,
