About pension

Post by goodssb » Sun Feb 28, 2010 9:40 pm

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding whether pension is part of my earnings. Say my gross salary is 2000 per month. I am paying 6% and my employer pays 6% for my pension. My question is: can I claim the 120 I am paying for pension as my earnings and can I claim for the 120 my employer is paying?

Really appreciate your help.

You may claim the 120 that gets deducted from your salary (provided it is declared on ths payslip), but not the 120 that your employer contributes.

Please check Page 23 of 44 in Tier1(G) PBS Policy Guidance Paragraph 122. which says
Unearned sources of income that we 122. will not consider as previous earnings include:
• money paid to the applicant as a pension;
so you can claim ur pension contribution amount not the companies contributions..

Although your comment is correct, the para you have cited relates to payment of actual pension and not pension contribution
