WP dependent entitle to free NHS prescriptions ?

Post by noor1034 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 8:28 pm

I have two questions:

Q1)

Does WP dependent entitle to free NHS prescriptions, if She is a pregnant ? Does it falls uner Public Fund category ?

Q2)
My company gives 2 week paternity leave. Am I allowed to take Paternity Leave ? Im concern as it seems Statutory Paternity Leave is deducted from National Insurance contributions and it will be recorded in my P60's.

Public funds do not include benefits that are based on National Insurance contribution. The above one does not fall under public fund

Again same as above. But I do not see Paternity leave listed in the list of non public fund. You have to write to BIA to confirm the same.

Paternity Leave cannot possibly be Public Funds, as the benefit does not come from the Government.

No problem with the free NHS prescriptions because of the pregnancy. Same applies to free NHS dentistry.

Thanks John and Vik. Do you have any contact number or email of BIA, I can write and confirm ?
