if at the airport on arrival, they only check the authenticity of the visa but does not record the arrival in uk. Then how would ho find how may days i was out of country during my five years while processing the application for ILR.

If you say just the entry stamp, some times stapm is not that clear,,,,

You have to submit a landing card to immigration officer when you land in UK. HO hold details of these landing card to work out your in-out details.

i can see your question arise fom another "hot" post... and i am totally with you. Virtually every passport these days are computerized and you hand it to officials whenever you come in or go out of country. They got to be able to record the persons whose entering or leaving the country and do not agree with people who are saying UKBA CANT find out if someone is inside the country or not unless applicant notifies them....
