Shared acco in hostel for EC

Post by mubbu » Mon Feb 06, 2006 4:32 am

Hi,

To get the entry clearance, Can I book the hostel with dormitory acco...which would be shared acco.
Will visa officer would consider that type of accomodation fro the initial settlement in UK?

PLease give your valuable inputs

Thanks

I am not at all sure about that. Surely you can book a hotel room for just seven days?

It does not matter whether it is going to be shared or not.

When applying for my EC, I presented Hostel Booking Confirmation for 7 days and it was a 10 bedded Dormitory.

All they are interested in is that you will have a roof over your head when you get to UK and that you won't be a liability.

Of course, I am assuming here that you are going alone without any dependant.

I hope the shared acco (dormitory) doesn't come under "crowded accomodation" in the terms of home office.

Mubbu, that was exactly my fear! So for the avoidance of doubt, probably best to avoid dormitory-style accommodation.

I agree with John - Another factor is the the local embassy where buntosanya applied, didnt have any problems with a dormitory-style accomodation, there is no telling how BHCs in other places might view it.

It was not indicated on the Confirmation that it is 10 Bedded.

I suspect that is why you did not have a problem! I think if it had said it had all those beds in one room you might have been rejected!
