2nd extension-HSMP

Post by Kalyani » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:10 pm

HI,

I first entered UK in HSMP in 2008 and subsequently extended in tier-1 general until 2013. I am short of 4 days for ILR.

Hence I may need to go for second extension in order to qualify for ILR.

My initial HSMP was with Bachelors degree and hence would like to know whether my second extension would be based on initial HSMP entry criteria/ points or should I have a Masters degree.

Please clarify.

Thanks in advance.

Under current rules, if the gap between expiry of current leave and 5th anniversary of your stay in the UK is less than 28 days, you may be eligible to apply for settlement without the need to apply for another (2nd) extension. But the rules may change by 2013!

I believe you can score 30 points for bachelors qualification when applying for extension, if your current leave was granted before March 2009. Please read para 77 of the policy guidance.
