Do they entertain requests for more time for medical tests

Post by geriatrix » Sun Jul 25, 2010 3:21 am

An acquaintance, working in the UK, had applied for PR (skilled worker) from India in 2004 and has now received a letter from CIC/embassy in India informing that he must get his medicals done and submit passport and has been given 45 days to comply.

The issue is that he (colleague) is the UK and is unable to visit India in the near future because he has recently returned from there after an extended visit and his employer is not ready to sanction any more paid / unpaid leave this year. To travel to India he will have to resign which understandably is not the route he wants to take.

Given the situation, he wants to know if he can request the CIC/embassy office in India to allow him more time to undergo medical examination and submit his passports.

Though he is aware that the medical tests may be undertaken at any DMP in the world but he is not keen for two reasons - that tests in UK cost a lot as compared to India, and that since he must submit his passports in India he must travel (cost) so he might as well get the tests done there and save some money.

If possible, does the CIC / embassy offices grant such an extension without much hue and cry or is this leeway allowed only rarely? Any clue?

Also, he is given to understand that *if* CIC/embassy agrees to extend the timeline, it will done only once. Is that the case?

Thanks in advance.

CIC will only extend the medical time due to pregnancy.

Also, passport request after medical may take considerable time. Few months, even close to a year is not unheard of. Which means he would have to make a separate trip to India in any case.

Didn't think he could, but you never know, what with medical science making fast progress.

You are very welcome.
