Switching Tier-2 dependent to Tier-1 General

Post by t1s2010 » Mon Sep 27, 2010 12:52 pm

I found it suitable to post here as many are dependent <-> independent switch

My spouse will be going to London from Indian company.
I will get my own Tier-1 General in the while.

I would prefer to enter UK first as spouse's dependent, so that her employer get my initial 'dependent' paper work done. And I go and check job market.

After a while (when I get Job), I want to reenter on my Tier-1 general.

Any suggestions..? if I can go to a European country and then re-enter.
OR I will have to come to India to reenter.

I would highly appreciate, if any other benefits/losses, forum friends see with my 'strategy' 8)

Can I have more than one visa? wrote:It is not possible to hold more than one visa or entry clearance.
Your Tier 1 (General) entry clearance will be invalidated when your passport is stamped with Tier 2 dependent entry clearance. To re-enter UK as Tier 1 migrant, you'll then have to reapply for Tier 1 (General) afresh from home country.

Oops!!! bad strategy indeed.
Mod, thanks for alert.

It means, I can't even visit my spouse in UK (after my T1 is stamped), if I choose to work with my existing organization.

Only option to enter UK will be a T1 only.
Don't want to waste my 51750 INR.

For comparison only,

It is like US embassy would have canceled my u.s.a. B1 visit visa, when employer applied for L1 blanket.

UK visa rules are definitely rigid.
