When should apply for ILR

Thanks to all for your help & valuable suggestions.

We were in delima when to apply for ILR because as per the days calculator our date was coming a day before visa expiry & we don't want to wait till last date. Hence, we went through the solicitor. She said the rules say " If you are not going to finish 5 year before your visa expiry date & if the date of entry is not more than 3 months from the date of visa u r eligible to apply 28 days before visa expiry.

Hence, I can suggest to apply 28 days before your visa expiry especially if the calculator says your date is coming 1 or 2 days before visa expiry or for a safer side give your case to a solicitor.

Also, those applying for Same Day ILR would need to book their place in advance and if the slot is not avaliable on that particular day (if its a working day), what do they do?

Send the postal application through Royal Mail special Delivery, even on the last date of your visa expiry.
