Vivitor Visa - Surname on Passport

Hi All,

I am planning to sponsor my parents for 6 months visit visa to UK this summer.

We have found out that in my fathers passport - Surname is missing. All his supporting documents have surname and only passport is without surname.

Do you guys think we should apply for visa with current passport or get the passport sorted first. We enquired about the passport ans it seems it would take atleast 2 months.
