Referee signature out of date???

Post by 80sBaby » Tue Feb 14, 2012 10:53 pm

Hi...need advice, help...I had my NCS appointment today to send off MN1 form for my daughter, the person that dealt with me said that that because the date signed for one of my referees is 7 months old it would be unacceptable, as it was signed june 27th last year,, and they do not accept references more than 6 months old, which sounds absurd.

the other referee signed it only December gone, which she said was fine
It doesn't say anything about referee signatures expiring in the MN1 guidance notes, and I can't find another professional let alone a British one...any suggestions...This is so frustrating

6 months is what the caseworker guidelines state. It doesn't show in the MN1 guide as I guess this is quite unusual case that someone gets the form signed and then waits for 6 months.

The professional referee doesn't need to be British. A teacher from your child school would be good enough.

Did the NCS refuse to send your application? As your child applies under section 1(3) the HO can not refuse the application even if the signatures are more than 6 months old.

Thanks for speedy reply...The thing is, my daughter is no longer at the school
she is Abroad since August last year, and I have been trying to sort out her citizenship in time for September, so there is no way of getting a reference from the school (bad relationship with the school also unfortunately)

I already have a proffesional referee who is also a British citizen, I just need another referee, I was wondering If I could use an old nanny that used to look after her, the only thing is she is not a British citizen, or a professional

Oh...yes the NCS did not send my application, they told me I had to come back with another referee, I will try and use the Nanny reference, if not I will ask them If they can just send it to the HO as I don't know what else to do

You only need one professional referee (doesn't have to be British) and one British referee (over 25).
