Documents for British Passorts for kids after MN1

Post by lionfly » Tue Feb 14, 2012 11:13 pm

My kids are registering as British Citizen with MN1 form based on Section 1(3). Both parents are holding foreign passports with ILR.

I want to check what documents should be sent to apply for British Passports after the kids get their citizen registration certificates, but the link http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTr ... /DG_174107 is not quite clear.

Under the item "If the child was born or adopted in the UK", it asks for:
1. Child full birth certificate
2. the passport that was valid at the time of the child's birth** for either parent* (the other 3 options need parents holding British passports or born in UK)

Does the item 2 means we send our foreign passports with the ILR?

Don't they need to see the kid's citizen registration certificate?

Thanks.

That page is not well designed for children who obtained BC via registration.

For an answer see Q2 in FAQ - most common questions - passport.

Hi Jambo,

Thanks a lot! Your information is much more helpful than the official website. (Do you work as an immigration lawyer? just curious)

So we only need to send: kid's foreign passport, birth certificate, the registration certificate. No need for any parent's foreign passports. Right?

Oh, do we need to send kid's passport-size photo?

Many thanks!

No. Just been through this process myself.

Correct.

Of course and the appropriate fee and a completed form...
