When UKBA acknowledges the receipt of post we send using special delivery royal mail service and sends us the acknowledgement letter does it mean they have received all documents that we sent have been received by them? Am asking to know if a document is lost in transit when will we come to know, for example, passport etc.? Especially when there is a long delay...

yes mate, normally all contents of envelope are delivered together as against 1 document at a time
make sure you use industrial strength padded & bubble lined envelope

assuming you submitted all documents, then as long as you have the proof of posting, then any loss in transit is Royal Mails responsibility. Once delivered (and accepted by UKBA), then any loss is UKBA's responsibility.

Thanks for this mate, so hereon if she gets the biometric invitation letter can she safely assume that UKBA has all the docs including passport, that will be big relief..from the forum UKBA are taking too many days to decide/application

dude, the biometric letter will still be sent even if 1 document is missing.
they look at the application along with all the evidence provided only after biometrics are completed

So if a passport is missing, a biometric letter will still be sent? Thank you.

Anyone please? There is just a concern that due to a missing documents the visa application getting refused for no fault on applicant part (except for trusting the post office guy!) wil a case worker be asking for the require doc or will he refuse the application straightaway? Postal application -what a mess!
Thanks

The CW has discretion, to ask you for the missing documents but generally the application gets rejected if the mandatory documents are missing because this indicates that you application is incomplete.

If the passport is missing from the application then the application is likely to be treated as invalid unless it is missing for one of the reasons specified on the application form (see section C), therefore your friend would be unlikely to recieve a biometic letter if the passport was missing from the application as the application would either be sent back as invalid or (if she was lucky) they would write to her to enquire about the missing passport.

That sounds logical, thanks Greenie....On the other hand if other doc like salary slip/bank statement are missing will the application be refused/ or rejected as invalid? He visa has expired and if application is refused will she get appeal rights? Her is a very straightforward case, one employer etc, she would have got her visa extended sAmeday if she had chosen that route...it has been almost 45 days now and no news from HO...worried.
