Dependency visa for Mother

Post by nehalbhagat » Wed Mar 14, 2012 9:00 am

Hello Guys,

I am leaving with my wife in UK with ILR status. I want to check if I can bring my mother in the UK on dependency visa.
She is 68 years Old leaving by herself back in India. She gets central government pension every month.

Sometimes my sister takes care of her but because of other commitments she can’t look after her on full time basis.

She visited UK three times on visitor visa, because of visa restriction she can not stay here more than 6 months so I want to apply dependency visa for her.

Can she qualify for this visa ? What is a procedure to apply for this visa ?

Please can someone advise.
Thanks

Are you asking if she can apply or if she can qualify? Anyone can apply for anything but if they don't meet the conditions they will not be granted. Nobody can say if can qualify based on the little information you have provided but if she does apply and is refused she will find it very difficult to get further visit visas. Before you do anything, take proper legal advice (not tips on a public forum) where you give a professional person who understands the rules a detailed history of her circumstances.

Thanks for your reply...
I am asking if she can qualify. Looking at your answer it sounds that I have to seek professional help for application for this type of visa.

I can not apply for my mother from India or from here.

it is not that you have to seek professional help, and that you cannot make the application yourself (in fact your mother needs to apply from India), rather than it is advisable to you seek professional advice because this category is notoriously different to make a successful application.

you have not made any mention of whether your mother is financially dependent on you?

She is financially independent. She regularly receives monthly government pension.
