Can people visiting UK apply for schengen visa here

Hi,

My in-laws are visiting us next month from India. They have already secured 6 month visitor visas for UK. We are planning to take a weekend trip to Paris with them when they are here but its not final yet.

My question is can the apply for schengen visa for France from UK once they come here or do they need to get it before hand in India.

I realise that it might be simpler to just get it from India. But its kind of my treat to them so I would like to bear all the expenses including visas n all so it would be great if someone here could guide me in the right direction.

I am not 100% certain, but I believe that visitors will have to apply from their home country and not in the UK.

Did anyone respond to the question... I'm in a similar situation where my parents are planning to visit me in the UK as a general visitor for 4.5 months. I would like to take them visiting in Europe.. do any of the Schengen embassies accept applications from general visitors in the UK and if so, which embassy has typically yielded the highest approval rate? Thanks.

Schengen visas have to be applied for from the country of residence before traveling. Visitor visa holders to the UK can't make applications while on holiday here.
