residence permit in schengen area

Do you think I can apply for residence permit for Hungary as my wife is Hungarian but we live and work here.

Where is "here"?

I know of someone who lived in Ireland permanently, and managed to obtain a permanent residence-permit in Belgium for his wife. They were fed-up applying for Schengen after Schengen after Schengen, and strangely enough never managed to get a multiple-Schengen, which would have avoided all the mess.

Why shouldn´t that work out in Hungary too... You just have to make sure if and how the Hungarian authorities check/surveil your presence there...
