Is there Another Visa fee increase for spouse frm 7th may?

Post by destiniation_london » Fri May 04, 2012 10:10 am

I'm pretty sure there is no announcement about another hike in spouse visa fees from India, I asked my wife to make a Demand draft of 70,250 as mentioned on UKBA website. But, when she called VFS just to confirm it , they are insisting that from 7th may, the visa fees is 74,350....i didn't see any announcements to that effect anywhere ..... and am sure it's just another VFS stupidity where they just insist on things which are not even on UKBA websites.

That's what the current fee is 70,250 as per the fee hike on 6th April. But, these VFS people are just contesting for no reason saying it's hike to 74,350 from 7thy May. I could not find any announcement for fee hike from 7th may anywhere.

The fee is taken in local currency. There may be exchange rate fluctuations to consider.

The visa fees in Pounds sterling for Spouse visa is £826.

And UKBA India have mentioned a exchange rate of £1 = 85 rupees. which comes out and rounded to 70,250.

I know rupees is going weaker at the moment, but pretty sure they can't keep changing that exchange rate through out the year for visa fees. Otherwise how would a applicant know what visa fees to pay when going for submission.

That's the reason they have set the exchange rate so high of 85 even when rupees was stronger.

As Lucapooka says, the exchange rate does fluctuate and you pay in local currency. I've just paid for my fiancée's visa application and the price was stated in USD at 1363 - has gone through my account at just under GBP 840.

Sorry, I think I'm being misunderstood.

The figure of 70,250 is mentioned on UKBA india website, it's not something which I am converting based on exchange rate.

My only point is that there is no announcement anywhere on any website which says the spouse visa fee is increased from 7th May onwards as claimed by VFS...anyways I don't take anjything which VFS says as apparently they got their own version of visa rules :)

Ok, thanks. Now. since I submitted online application for them on end of april when the fees was still 70,250 and hence when I print application form it still shows to pay 70, 250. So, are we suppose to pay according to new hike or the fees shown on application printout which is according to the fees at the time

You pay the fees at the time you submit your application and the rate on that day
