Kindly need some assistance on the English test

Post by adnan.undre » Tue May 08, 2012 10:04 pm

Hello,

Firstly I must thank all the people on this forum for the abundance of information and advice given to people such as myself who are slightly lost in the complexities of immigration.

My Fiancee has completed her IELTS assessment and has scored the following:

Listening-5.5
Reading-5.5
Writing-3.0
Speaking-5.0
Overall-5.0

My question is, are the above sufficient for the fiancée settlement visa. From my understanding only a level A1 in the CEFR grading scale is needed, the above surpasses such thresholds.

I have tried speaking with the providers of the test and UKBA with no luck, each institution pointing the other way.

I would greatly appreciate some reassurance, or point of contact where i can get this verified.

My most humblest of thanks

Judging by the approved list, it would appear that the equivalent of B1 is the minimum accepted level with regard to the IELTS.

Her scores are fine. Its only the speaking and listening scores that matter and she only needs 4.0 in each.

Do applicants have to do the English test for unmarried/fiance visa? I thought it was only applicable for those who are applying for a settlement spouse visa?

Thanks for the speedy reply guys. Much appreciated.

Greenie I have full faith in your knowledge, and was wondering if there is any need for me to get some sort of written approval from UKBA/ESOL to state the results as sufficient?

follow the link provided by BigEasy which sets out the accepted scores and also the FAQ that states that it is only the speaking and listening scores that matter

Sorry to bother again, but had one other question.

Does anyone know of the procedure for the visa application. I don't mean form filling, i mean is there an interview involved? i understand biometrics are taken but don't know what else is involved. any guidance will much appreciated.
