Questions for BRP card for ILR

Post by HSMPnonJRtoT1 » Thu May 17, 2012 11:49 pm

Dear friends,

I received my BRP card for ILR today and I have few questions below needs clarifications:

1. At the back of the card on the right side, there is a letter "O" , does it mean I applied via SET(O)?

2. I have checked the UKBA website, it mentioned below:

If you change your address at any time after you have received your biometric residence permit, and you think you are likely to be at the new address for at least 6 months, you should tell us by sending a fax to 020 8196 5454 or by writing to:

UK Border Agency
Change of Address Team
11th Floor Lunar House
Wellesley Road
Croydon
CR9 2BY

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ement/brp/#

Does it mean each time I change my address, I need to send a fax to UKBA? What do I need to write on this fax? I assume I don't need to get the BRP card replaced just if I change my address, am I right?

3. On my police registration certificate, it wrote "No requirement to register". I understood I don't need to go to police to report anymore but what do I do with this certificate? Just keep it with me?

Many thanks in advance!!

Kevin

1). I also noticed that BIG O on the back of my and my family’s BRPs. To be honest I myself was wondering what it stands for. Even the pamphlet which comes with BRP doesn’t explain what this O means.

I would be interested to know if you someone can tell us more about it. If this capital O means you got ILR under SET(O) form then the SET(M) people should have capital M on the back of their BRPs.

2). If they say, there is no harm in informing them about the change of your address. No new BRP needed every time you change address.

3). Yes you no longer need to report to Police. I assume you need to keep it with you or check with local police station about it.

The 0 is not related to set(0) but i am not sure what it signifies. I wouldn't worry about it.

According to the website you need to update them with your change of address but i am not sure this is an enforceable obligation. No harm in updating them though.

You should inform the police of your change in circumstances so that they know you are no longer required to register.

HI ilr_hsmp2007, from the sample in the leaflet, it also shows a big "O" at the back of the card. So it should be part of the desgin of the card other than any information.

Hi Greenie and friends,

I checked again the letter I received after the approval of my ILR and there is no where saying that I need to go to police again to report to them and also I remembered the CW told me I don't need to report to police as well.

The reason I am asking is that I will have to book another day off through company to do this (it is hard to get it at the moment as it is very busy period for us) so I would like to have a clarification on this so I can persuade my boss!

Many thanks in advance,

Kevin

Just call the police and clarify-it is not that you need to register rather that you should tell them you no longer need to register. If necessary they may just ask you to post them evidence that you are no longer required to register.

Many thanks, Greenie! Does it mean I can call the police or go to any police station to tell them this?
