Hi all,
I am living in UK on Tier 1 G visa and recently got my 1st extension in May 2012 for another 3 yrs. I want to sponsor my mother and sis (who are living in Pakistan alone) to live with me here in UK on a permanent basis if possible. But correct me if i am wrong only Settled person can sponsor their Sis and Mother for permanent visa for UK. My questions to all of the experts here are as follows :
1. What is the exact definition of settled person ? I am on Band 5 salary over here and paying huge amount of tax so am i considered as settled person ?
2. If above is not possible then how can i apply for visit visa for my mother and sis and what are documents that are required from their end. ?
3. My mother is a widow and has no strong ties there in Pakistan and totaly financially dependent on me. Same is the case with my sis she is bachelor and she also has a temporary job over there on a contract basis. So what should i do to show some strong ties for both of them over there because i heard this is required for visit visas ?
4. I dont send money to my mother and sis on a monthly basis rather i have a huge saving over there and my mother is using my pakistani bank account for all the expensis. So how can i show she and my sis are dependent on me finacially and if any money in their individual accounts are required how much should i show in the statement and for how long period.?
Please please help me clarify these queries as i am really desperate to sponsor them as soon as possible before are changed next year for family visas.
Looking forward to all your expert opnions soon.
Thanks alot in advance for your time.
Best Regards.

Settled means free from immigration restrictions which you are not as a tier 1 general migrant. Therefore you can't sponsor your mother or sister.

Thanks for the clarification for settled person definition. Please help me with my other questions which are related to visit visa for both of them.
Thanks.

Have you actually tried to read information on the UK Border Agency website prior to asking your questions, as the answers are clearly there?
I think it makes sense for people to ask questions when they have gone through the UK Border Agency website thoroughly but need clarity on some points rather than expecting members of the forum to just provide answers without people doing any research at all.
Kind Regards

Yes i did and i didn't undertand them correctly hence i am bothering you guys. sorry about that but i never post a question without making my own research first.
Moreover I was unable to find the answer for the question that is regarding what documents are required from my mother's and Sis' end to show the strong ties when they dont have any.
Please point me to the document or link that clearly specify the answer for this particular question.
Thanks.
Best Regards,

Hi,
This link provides the docs you need to show for your family if they are coming as visitors
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... documents/
For your problem around having ties to their Home country, do they own land or property in Pakistan?
Kind Regards

If they don't have land or property, I would suggest you wait for someone with more knowledge than I have as I am sure others can recommend alternatives. There are some very knowledgeable members on the forum like Greenie, Sushdmehta or Lucapooka. I am sure one of them can suggest something for you.
Good luck.
Kind Regards

Keep in mind that if you manage, somehow, to successfully apply for a visit visa for them - it may put the settlement visa at risk later on.
The requirements for the two are almost complete opposites so proving one will mean showing a large change of circumstances further down the line.
Having said this - it is highly unlikely you'll ever be able to apply for a settlement visa for your sister given the requirement for the relative to be living in the most exceptional compassionate circumstances. Simply being financially dependant is not enough.
As of July 9th - this requirement is being put on ALL adult dependant relations (at least - that's how I read the statement of intent) - meaning it's unlikely you'll be able to apply for your mother either given what you've described.
So - strong connections in Pak would be: property, money, jobs, relatives

Thanks MPH80 For your reply.
Would you be kind enough to clarify how much property and money to show for my mother and for how long time ?
