Medical Check Up on landing in UK

My sister is going to UK for the first time. She has got SETTLEMENT WIFE Spouse Visa and will be arriving at London Heathrow Airport on 24-Aug-2012.

Is there any kind of Medical Checkup will be done at Heathrow Airport.?

The staff may ask for a chest X-Ray to check for TB, if she can bring this with her it may save her an hour at the airport. However it has not been specified as mandatory in the requirements by UKBA as the staff at the airport has the facilities for it in case required.

It is better to get chest x ray done in india, see following link for British High commission approved clinics in India.

But she has applied for the Settlement Visa on 28-Feb-2012. Even then she required the X-Ray to be done.

There is no requirement for a chest xray to be done from India. When your sister arrives at London Heathrow, at the Airport they will direct her for a Chest XRay and send a letter to her spouses address with the result and if any follow up is required. The xray process won't take long. They will ask her if she is pregnant or not before the xray is done.

There will be a gradual rollout of pre-entry TB screening requirements in India, beginning with UK settlement visa applications from 16 August 2012.

they will ask u straight forward this

'' please provide your tb certifticate whatever the matter is''

if its expired on the day she traveled and entered uk then she might require to pay an extra 300 pounds plus the time they may take could be up to 4 to 8 hours depending upon the availability of machine and things in place
better to save time, keep the valid certificate with you
cost you nothing in advance
