Spouce naturalisation & absent for 460 days in 5 years

Post by PIXDA » Sun Sep 02, 2012 9:39 am

Hi,
I am making joint application for me & my wife for Naturalisation. We both hold Indian passport , both being in UK for 5 years with 1+ year after ILR.

My qualification period of 5 years ( from 01 Sept 2012 to 31 Aug 2007 )is fine as i am absent for only 280 days in last 5 years.
For my wife qualification period of 5 years starts from 01 Sept 2012 to 31 Aug 2007, but she was absent for 455 days.
This is due to pregnancy of 340 days ( which is 11 months 3 days in India during 2008) & other holiday reason in 2010 for 43 days & 72 days in 2011.

Can she still apply for Naturalisation considering that during qualifiying period her absent duration should have been less than 450 days of which 340 days is due to pregnancy reasons ? As i read somewhere that absent period due to pregnancy will be ignored if it is less than a year. Is that true ?

Please suggest.

Absences upto 480 day are normally disregarded.
