I would say trying to call them evry Tuesday and Thursday every 2 weeks asking for updates, I never emailed as I would always get the standard reply.I think it's persistence you need.

I was asked for a copy of my GNIB card in September also I'm a student so I have no employment records

I always used the email as I don't have time to wait for call to connect , they usually come back quick with proper update.

Your application is at an advanced stage of processing & you will be
informed of the Ministers decision in due course
I would say so, I had go the exact same reply on 30 Nov and got my approval letter on 6th Dec.
Thanks man, What are the usual documents they ask if they intend to approve the application?

I was not asked for any doc b4 approval. For some they ask address proof or gnib card copy prior to approval.

When i contacted citizenship section over email, i got following reply. what does it mean?

------
Your application is currently being processed with a view to establishing
whether it meets the statutory conditions for the granting of
naturalisation, such as good character and lawful residence, and will be
submitted to the Minster for decision as expeditiously as possible.

It is recognised that all applicants for citizenship would wish to have a
decision on their application without delay. As well as being a
significant event in the life of the recipient, the granting of Irish
citizenship through naturalisation as provided for in law is also a major
step for the State which confers certain rights and entitlements not only
within the State but also at European Union level and it is important that
appropriate procedures are in place to preserve the integrity of the
process.

In May 2012 I had got the very same reply as above, in October 2012 I got this reply "Your application is at an advanced stage of processing & you will be
informed of the Ministers decision in due course"

when I asked for an update and weather I will be invited for the Dec ceremony, in Nov 2012 I got this reply
"Your application is at an advanced stage of processing but will not be in
time for the December ceremony. You should be invited to the next available
ceremony"

On dec 6th I got the approval letter. I must say I got different reply every-time.

I am on the same boat with you. They have total disregard for spouse of an Irish nationals!.

How long where you married before you applied? Have you ever been in employment or out of it? What about your partner?

Are you still together? The information will help

Now this exactly what annoyed me the most how some applicants get approvals so early, I guess the INIS is trying to show they are up to the 6 month mark. I will assure you that applicants from June-July 2012 will get invitations for the first ceremony for 2013 & INIS will declare that they have achieved the 6 month target.

@Muokti : you said you applied in dec 2012 it's just been a matter of days man there are 1000s in the q who have applied much before you! You will need to wait at lest 6 months befor sending emails

Sorry, I put the year wrong. My application was notified on 12th of Dec 2011. So it's basically a year ago! :-(

Yep, The INIS mentioned before that they would speed up the applications of Irish spouses. It seems that it's not happening anymore as I have been waiting for a decision for almost a year (applied in Dec 2011)

I'm still happily live together with my wife :P and when sent my application to the INIS i had been married for three years and couple of months.

I have in and out of employment but most of them were occasional jobs. So the INIS has some of employment records even-though I had only made small tax contributions to the state.

We'll see, I hope we will hear a good news early next year! Fingers crossed :)

Hi Moukti,

My wife is Irish national but I applied on basis of 5 years and have been paying almost 30K a year in taxes. I applied in Dec 2011 as well and sent them details of marriage as well.

Still waiting :).

Why would you apply on basis of 5 years when you are married to an Irish national? You have more chances of your application being successful if your application is based on marriage to an Irish national as the minister can waive more requirements needed to apply for naturalisation

There are lots of empty promises from INIS. I was told on the valid application letter that I will hear back from the them in 6 months time. Up till now my application is still currently being processed with a view to establish bla bla bla..

Muokti prior to you application, where u unemployed? It seems to me that unemployed spouse of an Irish national applicants take very long to process, and thats just a fact that they are disregarded

I was suppose to apply for my naturalisation in 2008 on basis of 5 years but I never bothered. I got married in Nov 2010 and my wife talked me into applying for citizenship but we were not married for over 3 years so I had to apply on basis of 5 years but I did mention on my application that I am married to Irish national as well.

Fair enough. Your wife must be a good one encouraging you to apply for citizenship!. As far as I am concern many Irish women that are married to Non EUs are not very happy when it comes to naturalisation. So many bad reasons for you not to apply come into their mind
