National Insurance Class 2 paid but no receipt

Post by faislondon » Thu Feb 14, 2013 2:32 pm

Dear Fellas,

I paid my NI class 2 via cheque to HMRC. They have encashed the cheque which reflects on my account but it only shows the cheque number in the statement. However I do have the copy of the cheque with me. Since we need to provide receipt at the time of application. Would this proof will be
enough ?.

Please help guys.

Thank you.

it is not required to provide the receipt of NI class 2 you paid.... you should avoid to provide unnecessary documents.

In future please pay CLASS 2 NI contributions by Direct Debit. Could HMRC confirm this payment by letter,on this instance only ????

I paid NI by cheque. I have spoken to HMRC asking for receipt but they said they do not send receipts. I would had paid via post office they stamp and return the slip.

I had to pay via cheque since I do not have the NI contribution letter. Since HMRC has taken the payment using my cheque can I use my bank statement to prove my contribution?.

Thank you.

You have paid your NI by cheque and that is shown in your bank statement, that's enough for you and make following payments at Post-office.

although if you still need some thing as a proof of your paid NI, you can request a statement of your NI account.
open the following link.
