I think the rule is your parents would have to be wholly dependent on you, financially as well.christina wrote:Hi,
My parents are almost alone in my home country, bar my sister's family and one set of first relations (uncle, aunt, cousins - who are increasingly feeling put upon as my parents always turn to them for help). My sister rarely visits due to her and her husband's frosty relations with my parents. Everytime something needs attention, I am obviously constrained by distance and contacts. As they are getting to the point where they will need help regularly (my dad is 72 and my mom is 59), I really would like to apply for them to join me in the UK.
I am due to apply for ILR in Aug this year. Can I apply for them to settle in the UK with ILR or will I need to be a citizen first? My other siblings are here in the UK.
I had a look at the application form and there is a question which asks if you have any relatives in the home country.....would the fact that my sister lives there still (though rarely visiting them) or the cousins cause the ECO to reject the application? How would one answer that question in my situation??
This is really beginning to stress me out.
I don't think it's that simple but I'm not an expert here.christina wrote:They are constantly calling me to sort things out for them and I send them money frequently.....would they just need to show bank statements?
How does one answer the 'close relatives' question of the application??? Blood close but not much else.
Can I apply for them once I have ILR?
Unfortunately it's the ECO's u need to convince and they are notoriously unsympathetic.christina wrote:My cousins help me out with my parents for the time being but they have their own parents/families to deal with and it's becoming too difficult for them to continue a responsibility which is rightly mine. My locally resident sister rarely sees my parents (maybe once a year - when I plead with her).
