1 month short of 10 years stay

Post by yhasan5 » Wed Jun 26, 2013 10:15 pm

Hi there,
I am currently staying in the UK with a student visa and this will expire in October 2013. Unfortunately this October, it will be one month short for my 10 years requirement to apply for the permanent resident permit.
Now i do not want to extend on a student visa as this will cost me a fortune to apply for a new course.
Can someone please advise me is there any other way how i can stay one month more legally and not spend a lot of money too?
Your advise will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

You can apply 28 days prior to the 10 year period, if that helps?

Could you not apply for leave to remain, then vary your application as soon as it's 28 days before? Technically you can overstay up to 28 days and that could be disregarded.

I can't advise you what to do, you could apply for a new college course or you could make alternative arrangements. Contact a legal advisor who can let you know risks.
