Can my baby enter the UK using Consulate Birth certificate?

Post by annach » Thu Aug 08, 2013 9:44 pm

I am a British Citizen who also has Russian citizenship. My daughter was born in Moscow a few months ago. We obtained a Consulate Birth Registration certificate for her in the British Embassy here in Moscow and then applied for her first British passport. Unfortunately, our daughter's British passport is being delayed, despite us having applied more than two months ago.

We plan a holiday in the UK and have tickets for next weekend, however, I fear my daughter's British passport won't arrive by then. Do you think she can be allowed to enter the UK using her Consulate Birth Registration as a proof of British citizenship? As a travel ID he can use her Russian passport.

Or perhaps the fact that she is travelling with me, her mother, who holds a British passport, will help us through the Customs?

Can I ask the British Consulate here in Moscow for an emergency travel document or does it not apply to my daughter as she doesn't have her first passport yet?

You should have applied for your child's certificate of entitlement (click)

It's too late for that, given the tickets are for next weekend. Any other tips?

UKBAbble's method may work.

Thanks, will try that. Actually, a friend of ours is flying to London for this weekend. We will ask about our situation at Customs - hopefully, the answer will be YES!
