Application in regards to Oct 28th Change

Post by rupertbear » Wed Sep 18, 2013 12:26 pm

Hello All,

Well after trying to reach someone at the UKBA via premium rate numbers and finding every route eventually leads to them telling you to email them instead (which I have already done), I turn to your good self's for help.

My wife is currently a holder of indefinite leave to remain, which she received in July 2011.

We now want to apply for citizenship before anymore knee jerk reactions geared towards vote scoring, move the goal posts yet again.

I understand that after October the 28th, you will also need to hold a B1 (intermediate) level English language speaking and listening qualification as well as the existing Life in the UK (which she has already passed to get the ILR).

We now are considering application, before the above change comes in. This way we can save money and time on unneeded courses (she is pretty much fluent in English already) put in place to win back UKIP voters.

The only thing is that we have a Holiday planned from November 14th to the start of December.

If we were to apply asap (for example next two weeks), would she need to be present in the UK for a certain time period, for example to attend a ceremony or any needed appointments?

If the above is a yes, and we were to apply after the 28th Oct, would she still need to have the B1 certificate, considering that she got her ILR back in 2011?

Gratitude in advance. Its a shame I can't get help from the UKBA considering the prices they charge.
