Folks,
There is a huge anamoly in the Laws relating to assaults and Suspended Sentences in UK. Nobody has made an attempt to rectify the laws over the last 40 years and bring in Uniformity.
As a result there is all round confusion. In this instance I believe it will be a battery which is on the lowest scale (originally this was not an offence before they combined it into one definition as Assault and Battery).
But sadly it has now been classified as an Offence Involving violence. Unless the OP has done something serious, planned or with an offensive weapon in a pre-mediated manner, he would not have been let off with a statement by the Police. ABH and GBH are the ones that could potentially make a negative impact on BC applications. And unless the person has a jail sentence of 1year or more, automatic deportation procedures cannot be invoked.
