I did mine via recorded delivery on the 16th og july, got my approval letter on the 13th of august adn am awaiting my ceremony letter, called them last night cause i was getting impatient adnthey told me it was sent recorded delivery 18/08/09 and would be with me today. Will let you know

Congrats. 4 weeks exactly for approval is great going. I half expected the holiday season to have an impact on the timelines.

I am really hoping mine doesn't take forever as i'm not a very patient person and waiting is too much like Russian roulette to me

I just managed to speak to the HO advisor (on 0845 010 5200 then option 3,1,2) and she said that my decision has been made on 24th Aug 2009 and I will receive the letter in 7 days. But she refused to divulge the result (declined or approved) because of data security reason. So I guess I will have to wait for couple of days now to know my result. Fingers crossed

No as I mentioned before I calledup the number and used option 3,1,2. Here they told me that decision has been made but could not divulge the result details. I think for you also if your decision is made then they will tell you when it was made and the status of your letter. like in my case I was told it is ready on 24th Aug.

I found one problem with my invitation letter. The country of my birth is stated wrong. I can't think of it as a silly mistake coz there is a vast difference between my country name and mentioned in the certificate. this has delayed my passport application by around 4 weeks.

For postal application (naturalisation), will HO return the original documents and passports along with the acknowledgement letter OR along with the approval letter?

I had just realized I had used my driving license for ID in my Life in the UK Test. And the AN1 guideline said I should provide proof of ID (usually passport) but I should use the proof of ID, THE SAME ONE, as the Life in the UK. So if I send AN1 by post, then I would not have my driving license with me for at least 4-6 weeks or worse case 6 months. If so, I may have no choice but to wait for 3-week for the NCS appointment so as to keep my driving license in this case.

I applied on 27 July, and am still waiting. I am getting impatient and feel like calling the Home Office to ask, but don't like the idea of being rebuffed by them. I read that although the norm is 1-1.5 months, it took some people 4 months. Until I receive my approval letter, there is always the fear that I may end up as unlucky as that. At the end of the day, the Home Office is under no obligation to approve the applications before 6 months.

I will be very interested to hear about other people who applied around the same time.
