No bechir so far nothing mate, its been now 55 days but i did not get any reply. Mostly applications approved in 45 days but i am not on those lucky one. And as sidster mentioned these bloody strikes will cause more delay.

The delays really do annoy me and add to the frustration but more importantly I am worried about post from the HO getting lost as a result of the backlog created by the strikes. In such an event there is no way of knowing whether the HO have sent you something thereby risking the consequence of not booking the ceremony within 14 days of the letter !!

What's a good way to mitigate this? call the HO or the council to see if they have received the certificate?

i think is good idea as the council receive notifications on tuesday by special mail and emails, i suggest we have ago tommorow and call council there only going to say yes or no.

Folks I called up the HO a short while ago as I've been losing stuff in the post lately (damn the postal strikes !!) the lady at the other end was very understanding and said that a decision had been made on my application 2 days ago !! now I am dying from suspense...she wouldn't tell me anything other than wait for the letter in the post !!

I am praying that its all good as they haven't asked for any additional info after I submitted my application on the 9th October and the last time I called them (Wednesday last week) the agent told me that all the checks on my application had been carried out and that my application was in a queue to be processed by a caseworker who will make the final decision.

What do you guys think?? I am really dying of suspense...damn Royal mail !

Hang in there Sidster. I believe its been approved. I applied around the same time as you but i havent been in touch with the HO yet. I know how frustrating it can be with these silly postal strikes but hang in there. I believe we've both been approved.

Thanks Incognito..I hope all of us on this forum get approved. The lady on the phone told me that they might also send out the decision letter via courier. So keep a look out for it.

hi bechir,

Congrats mate, such a good relief. Hope so u will get ur letter soon.

Sidster its definitely a positive response coz straightforward cases always get approved in same time period, on my end i called council today to check if they have recieved anything but answer was NO. And that make me more worried and frustrated. Hope so i will get some good news next week. Fingers crossed

Sidster, i am just little bit worried now to call HO , because i have already called them three times in last 3 weeks, to be honest i am in bit confusion to go for it or not. And after calling council today so i am sured that decision has not been made yet. so let see what will happen next week.

But i think if you will call your council, might be they have recieved your certificate.

Date of arrival at HO: 02/10/09
CRITERIA: 5yrs HSMP JR (Plus wife and kid)
Date of debit of debit/credit card: 07/10/09

Date of receipt of approval: 28/10/09 (Dated 17/10/09)

Long journey indeed but almost there.

1. Had speeding offence 2 yrs ago with on-the-spot 3points and fine - but did not declare it as advised by HO

2. When I called my council yesterday to book the ceremony, the date given to me was 21st Nov, but I would have travelled out of the country then on holiday. Due to this, I arranged for a private ceremony and I was given today's date for that.

3. My application has been approved on the 17th Oct. which was 11 days before receiving the letter. That means some of us in this forum have already had our applications approved but there has been a delay in receiving our letters due to the postal strikes

4. Fund was deducted on 7th Oct. but it did not reflect on my account until 11th. I was really afraid that time because I thought I had made a mistake when writing the long CARD numbers.

4. I will be applying for the passports (family) when I return from holiday. It calls for celebrations!!!

Many thanks to all forum members and wishing everyone good luck.
