Update...signed for the letter this morning. I've been granted a further 3 years limited leave to remain. Not bad turn around - 18 days. I might just be able to save my flat purchase !!

I'm still considering applying for the permanant leave to remain before the 3rd of April. now that it seems in light of Titas's post, that I was actually eligible for it as of 12 March this year after all. Titus, if you're out there, could you post the exact wording of the quote stating it's from the stamp date not the entry date? thx

Or...I might just sit back and wait till the loophole kerfuffle's been resolved and do it next year when I know there won't be an issue...unless of course by then they change it to 6 years, or 7, or 8....

kitkatgirl, it is good you got what you applied for ... an extension to your limited leave ... but as regards whether you go for ILR now or wait until next year, it seems to me the risk is simply financial .... the cost of applying .. by post = £335.

If you do intend to submit an application for ILR this month I would say do that by post, post say next Friday ... use Special Delivery and retain the slip stamped by the Post Office ... and pay by cheque to slow matters down a bit. That is, with the deluge of applications being made in March, even if IND do pick up on your June entry date, it will be will into April or May when they are looking at your application for real (as distinct from just dealing with the payment issue).

One thing is certain ... IND have made clear that if the application is posted before 3rd April it will be dealt with on the existing rules, even though the application is actually dealt with long after 3rd April.

So it comes down to ..... do you want to lay out the £335 application fee?
