Hello everyone!

I have quick silly question. My ilr is due in December however HO guidlines says that i should apply 28 days before the leave expires.

Can i apply couple weeks before or is this a bad idea? I saw some posts here about people applying earlier and they still got response.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!
Hi there,

If your leave is expiring on 31st of December 2020 then you should be able to submit your application safely on 4th December 2020.

Hope this is helpful.

Today I have received another BRP card!!

So I totally I have 2 BRP cards now with different BRP number and different issue date.

One says “ Refugee Settlement” on it.
And the other says just “Settelment” on it.

When I put any of the BRP number in the following link:
https://right-to-work.service.gov.uk/prove/id-question
To check my right to work in the U.K. it’s says that “ the interest detail fo not match or my info. Is not valid.

First my BRP got delayed nearly 2 month after deciding email and now this!
It’s really confusing

That's a nightmare... first all the delays and now unclarity around which one of the BRP is the right one!!! I guess you will have to write a letter to the HO explaining you have received two BRPs and both with a different type of permit... you should only have one and that should say "Refugee settlement".

Hi everyone
Dose HO still send acknowledgment for setP application ? The acknowledgment I’m asking about is the one saying that you still have all of your rights including right to work until they make a decision on your application

I have applied online on 23/11/2020 and submitted biometric in the company building on 03/12/2020 the online application page still shows the same as I need to book an appointment for biometric.

I tried to get an answer about the acknowledgment letter or email here but I couldn’t

Hi Beloo,

The only acknowledge from the HO you get is an automated email saying that the application has been submitted. You get this email as soon as you press the "SUBMIT" button on your application form.

Regarding the right to work, you can check this here https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work and also generate a code to share with your potential employer to prove that you are eligible to work.

For Sopra Steria, if you had subscribed to the SMS service then they text you informing that the documents have been submitted to the HO. If you are unsure, you can always call UKVCAS on 0844 8920232 and check with them whether your documents have been submitted or not. Please note that they will not be able to provide you with any update on your application and calls to them are charged at £0.04 per minute, plus your provider’s access charge.

In my personal experience with Sopra Steria, I got a text message later on the day of submission of my biometrics confirming that the documents have been submitted to HO but I had paid for the SMS service. Just to check I logged on to UKVCAS (Sopra Steria) site and I can still see my application details on when it is booked for etc. However, I do not see an option to book another appointment.

Hope this is helpful and hoping that someone else can also share their experience regarding this.

Wishing you all the best and hope all goes well.

Kind regards,

Hi Refugee345
Thank you for your reply, I’ve got the Application Submission confirmation email from HO also the SMS from Spora-Steria, so I should not expect any communication from HO until the decision is made? Also when I log in to my application is it going to be showing the same thing again until the decision is made?
The link for the right to work showing that I can work until the expiry date of my current leave what is showing after date date for people went through this before? I mean after that date the decision won’t be made yet
Thank you again

Hi Beloo,

That's correct, the only correspondence/communication you will get from the HO will be regarding your application. They will contact you in either of the three circumstances 1) to inform you of the outcome of your application, 2) inform you if there are any delays and 3) ask you to provide any additional documentation.

I have already got a decision for my application and I logged on to Sopra Steria, I can still see my documents submitted and same with my application form. These are I think usually available for 180 days after the application has been submitted, however, I am not entirely sure about that.

You can continue to work until the decision on your application has been made unless you have been asked otherwise by the HO.

The forum is to help each other and share our experiences. This is a process that we have either all gone through or still going through and everyone has got the unique experience of their dealings with the HO. These forums make is very useful to get all of the information at one place and also help draw on each other's experiences.

Please keep us posted on the progress of your application :-)

Hi all,

My husband has applied SET(P) but he could not provide his home country passport as the snakehead took his passport when he arrived in the UK.

May I know will this affect his settlement application? Because when he uploaded documents on Sopra Steria website, the mandatory section requires him to upload his home country passport. Can he just upload his BRP and UK travel document instead?

Many thanks.

Is your family also applied?
Is there any mention about your refugee status on your ILR? How about your dependants? Thanks

Can you travel to country which u are seeking refugee from after being granted ILR? secondly are there any comments made on BRP about being refugee I.e. “refugee settlement” or it is just “indefinite leave to remain” ?
This is a very good question that almost every refugee has .The answer for it isnt straightforward.Refugee law handbook of UN clearly states refugees sometimes in exceptional circumstances may have no choice but to travel home country for a short trip either to see old or sick parents or to participate in funeral of a member of family or something like to file a divorce for which they have to be present in their country. It depends on individual case &reasons of travel.Recently in the mid of may my father was died &I asked HO to send my passport as I wanted to travel home .HO said to me to send details of my father ,details of hospital treatment &proof of death .I sent &they told me to apply for certificate of travel and also send proof of how will I be travelling but unfortunately due to covid there was no flights in operation to my country I coudnt attend funeral.Reason to mention this is that HO understands exceptional circumstances &does cooperate with refugees .
In general of course a refugee cant travel home country .There is no diffenrence between a refugee leave &refugee ILR when it comes to revocation as they see the reason for revocation &status in both leaves is the same which is refugee.
Hi London22,

Sad to hear about your dad.
Could you please give link or document name of UN which say about travel to home country?
And also could you write email address of HO department where you messaged them?

Thanks

Hi
Please ignore my previous reply, So Yeah I was in similar situation like your husbands. When they granted me asylum back in 2015, Home office tried to prosecute me for not showing valid passport or document at the airport, when I applied for asylum. But I had my own reasons and eventually they dropped the case.
But I did mentioned in my SET (P) application that I entered UK illegally and I had no passport.
Instead of National passport your husband can take Travel Document to his appointment.

Hi Danish,

I have completed 5 years as a refugee I was granted 5 year refugee status. I have completed form SET (P) and sent did you apply for the same form under completing 5 year route or you were granted Refugee settlement ILR on completing 10 year route?
I am quite worried that I may get a refugee visa for another 5 years, although at the time I was granted 5 years refugee status I was told I can apply for ILR once I have completed 5 years.

Any advise would really help.

Kind regards,
