Naturalisation and Passport Pilot Scheme

Dear All,

Quick question, I m about to apply for a joint nationality+passport application- I believe I do not need to fill in counter signatory details on the passport form- now normally as per the form counter signatory needs to verify one of the photograph by signing at the back- do I need to get that signed or just my name and D.O.B will suffice? your quick advice will be appreciated.

Hi manav1111,

I just called the lady at NCS. Are you the same person who called her a 1 week back. She told that someone already called her last week with this kind of issue.

I think she already checked with home office, they said that there might be 2 possible issues..

1. Error with the passport payment form (if this is the case they will try to contact you and ask you to do the payment)
2. Initially they used to take passport fee first and AN fee, now they are taking AN fee first and then passport fee. In either case they asked her to wait till the Ceremony is finished.

Unfortunately she asked me to wait for 2 more weeks and if things didn't move asked me to call back so that she will call HO again.


Yes, I called them a week back. Got the same reply as you. Not sure if I believe that though, I think, this is an issue with how they send / mark the application.

Anyways, can't do much really, will call her again in 2 weeks. At least with 2 persons calling, there will be some pressure on her to do something.
We should have gone by the reviews and should have applied at Brent/Wandsworth/Hackney.

All we can do is wait, please let me know if you have any further updates.

Firstly many thanks for all the guidence I got from this board.

I got my approval letter and council invitation for ceremony on wednesday 23/03.

My timeline as below

Applied Through Brent (barnet) under JCAP on 20th Jan
Fee taken for AN: 4th Feb
Fee taken for Passport: 20/02
Bio done on 08/02
Approval letter recieved Today 16th Marc (dated 26th feb)
Ceremony Appoinment: 23rd March

Congratulations, did you booked the ceremony by yourself or is it an automatic one ?

Does anyone know if the referee on the passport application is not the same referee as on form AN, will the passport form be declined? I completed my AN form, and got my two referees to fill out their forms. However, I completely forgot about the referee required on the passport application. I was going to get another person to act as the referee on the passport application.

Based on the latest information shared by JCAP applicants, you are no longer required to have the counter signatory section of the passport form filled. So your referees would just need to fill in the AN form. However do check with the council you plan to apply through.

Just noticed an approval for a February applicant . Looks like HO has streamlined the process no difference in processing pilot and non pilot scheme applications . Infact non pilot applications are getting processed faster .

Seems like HO has streamlined the process and all the postal, NCS and JCAP applications are dealt in same manner.

Strangely not a single approval for any applicant who apllied in Feb 2016.

I am preparing an excel sheet from October 2015 till Feb 2016 and found most of the applications that got approved between Oct-15 to Feb 16 were after AVERAGE one month from Biometrics. and aprrox 75 days from the date of application ( but this is not a fixed rule as still there are many applicants who applied in October 2015 and still waiting for decison or again might be they have not updated their timeline.

We (Feb 15 applicants) cant do anything execpt wait.

Look at the February time line .Safesky , applied on 1st Feb and got approval yesterday .

Yes Narsii, I have just realized that Safesky ( applied on Feb 01,2016) got approval

He did not applied under JCAP its a good news for February 2016 applicants that HO has started considering Deb 20016 applicants.

Just another thought , If you look on the past approvals only 2-3 applications have been processed very quickly ( in a matter of 7-15 workinng days ) and others as usual 2-3 working months and even more than a year to process in some cases .

I understand that each case /application is different and HO has to deal with it differently. In some cases it would take longer than expected to conclude and miss the deadlines /SLA for the application. This increases the average time of processing and leads to breach of SLAs for the department .

Some of the members published an image that shows the average processing time of AN applications by HO .This shows that they are processing > 99% of applications in time . I think for each month they are processing few applications faster to maintain these SLAs.

Again this is just another thought . I can be completely wrong .

I dont think they will be doing it just to maintain SLA.

My guess is that it depends on how much load a case worker got and how efficient one person is. Some case workers tend to process straight forward cases quickly but there may be very case workers like that.

I agree , but then why there are only 2-3 in a month . Why not more than that or less than that. If one HO worker can work on a case in a week , he can complete 4 of them on a average in a month . so does this mean that there is only one effective / efficient guy in whole HO ? . Nothing offensvie abount anyone/anything here . Just some random thoughts.

One thing I have noticed is the time between approval date mentioned on approval letter and the actual receipt of approval letter by post - between 7 to 15 days. Even by second class post, it should reach within 2-4 days. Ack/Biometric letter date and receipt is generally in 2-3 days. May be approval letters are not being sent immediately after approval. Wonder why.

Also we need to take into account

1) We are only considering applicants getting approvals who are posting here in forum, obviously there will be many more who are getting approvals and don’t post on the forum.

2) Applicants registered on the forum took form the forum members, applied for naturalization and have not completed their timeline with success.

These two scenarios will make the situation worse.

I think as said earlier , the MN1(single ) applications and non self employed applications are getting faster approvals .

No approvals for self employed / directors yet . Let's see how long would it take .
